quick update - Sunday, April 11th

Hogan has had a rough 24 hours.
Hogan is back where he feels the best!
I could kiss Hogan's little head 1 million times a day!
Hogan is tired from his recent battles.

Hogan has had a very rough 24 hours. We almost lost him yesterday afternoon and were reminded how quickly life can be taken. We are thankful that he is still fighting his battle to stay alive again this morning. He did have to go back on the vapotherm oxygen machine last night. He wasn't able to sustain using the different machine that we would be using at our house. He also had blood work taken this morning because he had a fever of 101 during the early morning hours. Dr. Morales also ordered an X-ray to see if he had pneumonia. Thank God the X-ray showed that there was no pneumonia. We will see how his blood work looks this afternoon to see if antibiotics are needed to be given to Hogan. The feeding tube is now back in his mouth where it was after he was born and he has gotten his IV back. The feeding tube was moved to his nose from his mouth a day or two after he was born but because he had the problems yesterday and the swelling and congestion in his nostrils, the nurses had to move the tube back to allow for oxygen to pass through. Thank you for your continued prayers.

I also wanted anyone that has followed this blog to know that I do give updates periodically on my facebook page for those of you that might have a facebook account. It has been a blessing to be able to give quick posts and more pictures. So, if you want to follow him a little more than the letters on the blog, I will gladly be your "friend" on facebook! Just look for "Kip Dominy" and a picture of Hogan!

Have a very blessed Sunday afternoon. Thank you all for being so good to our family. We can't tell you how much we appreciate it. I also don't have the time right now to comment to each of your blog comments but your messages are being read over and over. They help give me strength. Thank you for your messages. God Bless you!

Kip

  2. Angie, I have been praying for you, Hogan, and your family since I found out. Mrs. Shelena Toulson teaches at Oakwood and she said your parents go to their church. Our daycare director, Laura Edmonds had a baby girl born with Trisomy 18, about 10 years ago and she was given your name to pray for you. Has she contacted you? I thought she could be a comfort since she has been through this. You can email her at lauraedmonds@oakwood.cc. I pray that you will have many more days with Hogan and that his life will continue to be a testimony to those who don't know Christ and draw them to HIM.

  4. My heart continues to ache for you, Hogan! You are such the fighter, and I'm proud to continue to read about you. During communion at church this morning, I specifically lifted your name above all names as my special request to our Lord. Please know I still believe in miracles and am praying like a true warrior that He bestows one on you. Your parents are so blessed to have this time with you....love them hard, they're giving you every bit of love they have!

To quote a 16-year-old in our church who just had a double lung transplant in December and a bone marrow transplant done on your birthday....Be Strong, Pray Hard Dominy Family. Our community is here for you.

  8. Hogan's mom & dad,

I heard about you all from a friend in a grief group that I am apart of at Perimeter Church in Atlanta GA. My husband and I lost our third daughter almost exactly a year ago. She was born still at 31 weeks. It is so amazing to see your little man fight and that you have spend so many days with him. We will be praying for you as you enjoy him, hold him, & kiss him.
He is so precious and his story is just an amazing testimony of God's grace and love.
Much love to you and your family.

  9. We reminded our volunteers at church this morning to continue to pray for Hogan as he fights to live. May God grant you and Angie such a peace in knowing that in all things He is holding Hogan close and is there to comfort and be with him always. God's peace....Ron and Sarah of Toccoa

  10. KD,

It has been crazy to hear how many people I have run across that have read the blog and have been touched by Hogan. It is amazing to see how the Lord can touch so many through HD. It is also amazing at how much fight he has in him (glad he is tougher than you are:)). Carleigh is not sure which of the Dominy boys she thinks is better looking. We are all grateful that you have shared the last week + with us. Y'all are in our prayers. Russ, Shelley, & Carleigh

  14. Baby Hogan & family,
I have been trying to find the words to write since learning of your story. First of all, you are all in our continuous thoughts and prayers. I was given your blog address on Friday from Leah...my kids go to her daycare in Lavonia. I have not been able to stop thinking of Hogan & keep myself updated daily. We recently had our 3rd, and I was one of those who took a healthy baby for granted. I had somewhat of a scare with this pregnancy, but all turned out okay. Since learning of your story, I have given more kisses and love to our baby Hampton.
You have a beautiful family and I wish continued strength for all of you, especially Hogan. He is a precious gift and I know you cherish every moment with him. Thank you for sharing your story.

  16. Dear Hogan-

I told your story to my patient today. She's really quite a big girl, just reached the 5lb mark! She was feeling a bit fussy and needed a good cuddle and someone to talk to. So I told her all about what I've read in your father's letters. When I was done I heard sniffling in the doorway. 5 nurses, 2 nursing students, 1 midwife student and my patient's parents were all listening in. Everyone sends you the best wishes and a great big NICU hug from afar. Hearing about your struggle was enough to exhaust my patient and she slept for a full 2 hours! Be strong, Hogan, and know that people everywhere (even in places as far away as Denmark!) are rooting for you, praying for you, and looking forward to hearing about your every new day.

Just wanted to say Hello to Hero Hogan again. My 8 yr old daughter got on her knees last night before bed and prayed for you..Next time I will record it. She started reading about you with me and she has become attached to you. Even though we dont know you in person, we feel we know you in our hearts. Please stay strong Hogan!
